GWADAR: THE GATEWAY OF PROSPERITY
Gawadar Gwadar or the “Gate of Wind” in Balochi is an incredibly important part of Pakistan’s history and economy. Gwadar first came under Pakistani rule in 1958 after realizing its immense strategic importance. Before this, it was an overseas possession of Oman from 1783 to 1958. Pakistan purchased Gwadar for US$3 million and it officially became a part of Pakistan in December of that year. Gwadar is a very important economical site for Pakistan not only because of its strategic importance but also because of its location. The Gwadar seaport which is a deep seaport is located on the shores of the Arabian Sea in Baluchistan which just happens to be Pakistan’s biggest province.
